and now for something completely different

i've been working on a sort of "menlove's greatest hits" in conjunction with my final entry (which is, by the way, coming along nicely). anyhow, i was poking around on google, i came across the following blog written by a law student at wisconsin. some of it is very funny, and i thought you'd all enjoy...

Con Law is up. To me, it proves that grades have nothing to do with how hard I work or how I feel coming out of the exam. I do some shit throughout the semester and somehow a random grade pops up.

STOP!!!!!! People, please! It is summertime. The one time of year we don't actually have to think about law school. Menlove has given us a fantastic link, and the message board is filled with discussion of grades! I understand the need to vent (or celebrate), but why here? I come here for laughs, not to hear your gripes. Enjoy the summer while it lasts! You have all fall to whine about your grades...

Re: Hints, I don't know Menlove, you're probably in a better position to give us something juicy enough to send our tongues a-wagging without giving away the bacon. Maybe whether you're older/younger, the type of clothes you wear, or whether you were on the top 5 of the list that was posted awhile back?

At 12:16 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's closed. The day they closed the plants in front were ripped out if the planters and the soil was all over the street. the place looked like a sex crimes victem.

Has anyone started working yet?

At 1:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

most people have, and everyone else who hasn't starts tomorrow (including me).

At 2:51 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Do you guys realize how close we are to learning M's identity? Is anyone else excited for this?

At 7:18 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

does anyone have an idea as to where the cut-off gpa for top 10% will fall? i assume it will be similar to past years? i ask b/c it seems that most OCI firms require it.

At 8:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

top 10% generally hovers around a 3.5, but there's no way to know for sure until we get our ranks from the registrar.

At 8:16 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

does anyone know what my rank will be (approximately) if i have a 3.87? i'm just wondering in case i get an A+ in the rest of my classes.

At 11:10 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Does anyone kow what my rank will be if I have a 3.7896726? Also, does anyone know where my **** is, cuz I haven't seen that in 9 months and I'm just wondering in case I have to go out and score some fly honeys with my bulging GPA.

At 5:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

do you think the fly honeys are more impressed with a big **** or a big GPA? props to those who got both...

At 6:35 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

let the bitterness begin: "it's not fair, because i i didn't do well!"

"only losers have high gpa's!"

it's just like when moot court came out, and i fucking hate it.

from me: congratulations to everyone who did well.

At 6:46 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

so, what's the deal with the registrar no longer updating the grades daily? and what's the deal with professors who still haven't submitted their's? i get that it takes awhile, but come on already.

At 6:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

now let's not get on the registrar's case. they are very busy up there with their annual mah-jong summer tournament!

At 7:16 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i love mah jong!

but i'm not the registrar.

I'm not bitter because I did not do well... I did great. I hate pissy little losers who make stoopid remarks (and make other smart kids look bad) like "what will my rank be if I have a 4.9 and I get all A plusses?" because if they're smart enough to pull As, they're damn well smart enough to pull out a calculator -- or guess for christ's sake becuase there is only so much of a range -- what they're rank will be. Especially if the post directly before it suggests that a 3.5 is in the 10 percent ballpark.

At 11:18 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i would think a 3.5 would hover closer to 25-30 percent. i guess we'll all find out soon enough...

At 11:37 PM, Blogger menlove said...

i've tried, but i can't think of any good clues for you guys.

in a sense, the entire year has been a clue. i guess i ran out.

if you have a specific clue or question you want answered, let me know. otherwise, you'll have your answer soon enough...

At 5:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

what is taking jones so long?? it's pretty disrespectful

At 7:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

ditto cahill. this was the only class he taught this semester, AND he limited us to 2,500 words. c'mon, man. it's my last grade.
