tori, rey, spano & douwe

my entries between now and tuesday will be short and sweet. also expect some entries written by special guests in the next few days as i finish the brief.

a few quick notes for today, then back to work...

i usually don't do this sort of thing, but there was a really great message on the comment board yesterday, and i don't want it to get lost underneath this new post. here it is for those of you who missed it.

"Folks, as a self-proscribed tree hugger galore, can I make a suggestion? We all drink gallons of coffee a day and wwhether its Starbucks, DD, or the caf, usually we use the disposdable paper. That's a whole lotta waste if you thibnk about it.But we have a simple alternative at a fingertips that can, with little effort and no additional cost, really help in cutting down on the waste. The caf sells those plastic re-usable coffee thingamagingers that for $5. You get a cup of coffee with the purchase plus five free cups thereafter which means the damn thing pays for itself. Most importantly, you get to play a personal roll in reducing waste. Not trying to lecture, just wanted to point out the option. Go trees and fresh air!"

right on, dude.

in other news...

my flabbers were literally gasted when i read that someone would pay $500 for a date with menlove. unbelieveable! i'm flattered, although i'd have to assume that it's a joke. i'm not sure how i'd be able to reconcile an appearance in an auction with my need for anonymity. perhaps i could just wear a mask to the auction, like my homie rey mysterio...

Example

out of curiosity, in today's email from our esteemed SBA rep, it was mentioned that several section niners have been nominated for the auction. does anyone know who from our class (and section 8 as well) will be "on the block" in the charity auction?

that event is going to be sweet. didn't they do that on saved by the bell once?

"i'm so excited! i'm so excited! i'm so... scared."

or was it 90210?

donna martin graduates!

The following people were NOMINATED but it obviously doesn't mean that they HAVE to get up on the block- although they should because it is a charitable and fun Phi Alpha Delta event.

I might miss some names-
Me, Allison Jacob, Carla Cheung, Demian, Evan, Janice Cooperman, Juanita, Kelly Kocinski, Mark Antar, Meaghan Atkinson, Preethi, Sam Levy, Scott Chait, Shireen, Thomas Hunter and Lane, Gavin, and I believe there is another batch of nominations in the works...oh and MENLOVE of course...

So our job is to convince everyone to be auctioned...and to bid on ME when I am standing up there and tumble weeds are rolling by and crickets are cricketing?

Did someone really bid 500 on a date with Menlove? Was it Princess Strawberry Margarita?

Don't worry Brina, you'll be in high demand!

Here's a link to an AP story on a possible Ohio bill aimed at curbing liberal professors from expressing their personal views in public and private colleges. I thought it was interesting in light of the last few weeks of Con Law...

Well, the ratio of Liberal to Conservatives in Academia is about 7 to 1, as a conservative estimate. To fulfill the liberal goal of "diversity" regulations like Ohio's would be necessary to equalize the "old lib's club" that is tenured professorship.
Ironically the more expensive the college is the higher the ratio of liberals dominating conservatives in the classroom (Harvard - 30 to 1).
Strange considering the country looks a lot like This:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote2004/countymap.htm

You would think that elite institutions would want to represent the county in which they are situated in, instead of Soviet Russia.
I better double-think before the contradictions make my puny conservative brain hurt.

so let's see, the better the school, the more liberal the faculty?

maybe there's something larger at play here...the smarter you are, the more likely you're a liberal democrat...or better yet, the dumber you are, the more likely you're a conservative republican.

while i'm being a bit facetious, this is worth a look.

You win the booby prize: the continued paradox of proclaiming "party of the little guy" and resting on ivory tower credentials. That whole Marxian, we know what is good for you, ruling class thing that looks an awful lot like a dictatorship. Congrats.
We (reds) hold the house, senate, presidency, Courts, wealth, and by liberal accusation some sort of 'world empire.'

We are dumb. How do we keep beating you? I would be more ashamed of the inability to gain power with your obvious intellectual superiority than you apparently are...hence our continued winning streak.
When you need to make a city or a country great, or great again, vote in a Republican (Reagan, Rudy G)

You win in your mind. We win in the reality. I will take reality any day.

Viva la Reagan Revolucion

-Pause for accusations of racism, and continued liberal elite snobbery.

to anonymous (10:56pm):

you are fitting into my stereotype of quite well as your post demonstrates your failure to comprehend the meaning of the word facetious. if you're working on your brief, i imagine the thesaurus is nearby...have a look.

you are also lending yourself quite well to the quality of
arrogance which seems to go hand-in-hand with many of your chums. (chumps?) if you look at what i wrote, and then you look at what you wrote, you might want to ask yourself who is really guilty of elite snobbery.
